"When we move, we move as one."
The Book of the Current
What Is the Current? The energy that moves between genuine souls▶
The Current is not water, though the faithful speak of it as a river. It is not fire, though those who give themselves fully to it are said to glow. The Current is a living energy — moving between and through genuine souls wherever they gather in true connection. It is ancient and was long forgotten by the world, rediscovered when a scholar unearthed a manuscript whose teachings had been lost to time.
Those who walk in its presence have described it as warmth behind the sternum, a hum at the edge of hearing, a weight behind the eyes that is somehow also lightness. It does not grant power over others. It grants something quieter and more profound — the understanding that you are never truly alone. Every soul who walks with the Current adds to your own, and you to theirs. We are all connected. That connection is the foundation of everything the Keepers believe, and the greatest strength there is.
The Current looks for balance in all things. Those who isolate when connection would help them are moving against it. Those who consume when creation would ground them are moving against it. Those who force when alignment would carry them — against it. Most people live this way without ever knowing it. The Keepers exist to show another way.
Core BeliefsWhat the Keepers hold to be true▶
The Current flows through all things. A living force moves through every breathing creature — through flesh and stone, through words spoken and unspoken, through the silence between people who finally understand one another. This is the Current. It is not worshipped. It is felt. It is the reason a stranger's grief can move you to tears, and why a crowd can suddenly breathe as one. You are not separate from the world around you. You are woven into it — and it into you. To become aware of this is the beginning. To move with it is the practice.
Unity. The Keepers do not believe in isolation. A soul that cuts itself off — from the Current, from the people and world around it — diminishes. Not as punishment, but as consequence, the way a branch cut from a tree does not flourish. You cannot carry the Current alone. It grows between people. When a circle holds, when a vow is kept, when someone shows up for another without being asked — the Current moves through the space they make for it. We move as one, or we do not move at all.
Balance. The Current seeks equilibrium the way water seeks level. It does not require perfection — it requires honesty about where the weight lies. When something is out of balance, the Current presses against it, patient as tide. The Keepers do not try to force the world into a shape they prefer. They try to remain sensitive to where they are adding to the imbalance, and where they are in a position to restore it. Balance is not stillness. It is the willingness to keep adjusting.
Justice. The faith does not flinch from what is owed. The Current does not forget what has been taken, what has been promised, what has been broken. It holds the record. Justice in the Current is not revenge — it is restoration: returning what was wrongly taken, making whole what was fractured, standing with the wronged even when it costs something. To align yourself with justice is not sentiment. It is alignment with the Current itself.
Squeeze the lemon. The defining teaching of the Keepers came not from a temple but from a farmer. When Talia worked his fields in her wandering years, he told her what his late wife used to say: "Bitterness is just sweetness that's been squeezed wrong." You do not pretend the lemon is not sour. You do not perform past the sourness or suppress it. You take it in both hands and you squeeze — and you transform what life handed you into something that can sustain you. This is not optimism. It is alchemy. The Current does not promise a gentle life. It promises that nothing is wasted in the hands of someone willing to work it.
Walk your own path. The Current flows differently through every soul. The Keepers do not issue a single way of being. What is asked is that you walk deliberately — that you show up honestly, make your choices with intention, and remain connected to the larger world as you go. No one tells you what your faith must look like, what your practice must be, or what the Current means for you specifically. The path is yours. The responsibility for it is yours. The Current is shared — but how it moves through you is something no one else can determine.
The Keeper's CallLiturgy and practice▶
When the Keeper calls the faithful to attention — before a ritual, at the opening of a Circle, at the close of a working — there is a call and response that has become the heartbeat of the faith. It is spoken over a single drum pulse:
Members: "When we move, we move as one."
It is not a recitation. It is a test — of presence, of willingness, of whether the souls in the room are genuinely here or merely occupying space. To respond is to say: I am with you. I am real. The Current moves between us.
Talia EmberbornHigh Priestess of the Current▶
Talia Emberborn — The Awakening
Talia Emberborn did not choose the Current. She was chosen by it — the way a dry riverbed is found by rain: not through intention, but through the long patience of water finding its path.
Before there were Keepers, there was a woman already being shaped by what the Current would later name. She was learning its lessons in silence — through loss, through the specific loneliness of a person who sees what others miss, through the weight of promises she kept when no one was watching. The faith did not give her purpose. It gave language to something that was already moving inside her.
She is Emberborn — touched by Ignus, fire made flesh. In the High Priestess, that is not metaphor: the Keeper glows when fully given to the Current, and in Talia, that glow is literal. This fire was carried privately for years. She was not ready to offer it, or the world was not ready to hold it. At the November 2025 Grand Gathering, it was given for the first time — to purify a corrupted heart and return it to its rightful bearer. The circle held. The bargain was enforced. The heart came home. What had been doctrine became witnessed truth.
The Current chose her because she had already been living its teaching before she had its name. That is the thing about being chosen: the choosing happened long before the recognition — in the quiet years when the work was being done in the dark, with no one watching and no reward expected.
The faith holds no court and claims no faction. It is open to all who move toward connection rather than against it. Talia stands with the Court of Valor — a personal alignment, not a doctrinal one. The distinction matters.
